I really cannot wait for the outcome of the US election. So far, Democratic hopeful Barack Obama has won in the two New Hampshire towns which has a tradition on opening the US election.

It's a nice change to see how the Americans are into the whole election this time around. Then again, I'm not surprised with the whole celebrity-Presidential candidate cirque-esque rallies.

I watch Jon & Kate Plus 8 every week - a reality show about a couple with 8 children (a set of twin girls and a set of sextuplets). Ever since catching it for the first time early this year (I think it was because nothing else was on), I've been checking the Astro TV guide for the show's timetable. I just find it amazing that the couple are able to take care of 2 seven-year olds and 6 three-year olds, what a mad house. In case you're interested, new episodes are aired every Friday afternoons.

Before the PS3 arrived, my weight was 70 kg. Almost three weeks later, I'm 73 kg. It doesn't help that there's a reclining lounger in front of the TV now. Well, at least its still an improvement from the post-Raya weight.

I love reading autobiographies, and this is probably the only reason why I bought Adeline Yen Mah's Fallen Leaves - The Memoirs of an Unwanted Chinese Daughter. Obviously its a true story, about the author who was born into a rich and privileged family, but is considered to be bad luck due to the death of her mother during complications in giving birth to her.

Sure, its moving and heart-wrenching. Probably well worth the read, especially with the author's excellent explicit protrayal of society, cultural and religious values during the time of the Second World War. Plus, alot of excellent Chinese proverbs. But there was alot of self-pity and complaints, one too many. I have the feeling this book will turn me off autobiographies for awhile.

I guess if you're having a bout of self-pity, this book should put things in perspective from page one.

The fact is, without being sexist, the book is a "girly-book". Another fact is, somehow, I bought it.

This book makes you realise you know bugger all, but you may now astound your friends with how much stuff you know. It's not like any other normal book, more of a coffee table book or one to read while taking a dump. Mine's on the table. Good to dip into every now and again.

Funny, well researched and packed with "wow" moments, everything you thought you knew will be brought into questions. As well as everything you were ever taught in school. Lots of little useless facts, my favourite kind.

If I was Oprah Winfrey I would say The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is the book of the week, month and year and I would be one of the richest celebrity. It's bee awhile since I've read a book that I thought deserved 5 stars, and hands down this book deserves all 5 of them. It's hard to say what exactly it is about this book that you fall in love with, you only know that you have and you dread reading the few remaining pages because the ride will end. The story will be over. And you will feel empty without something so refreshing to read.

I was continually amazed with the way I almost liked the narrator, Death. Not at all like the sterotypical Grim Reaper. Let Death take a firm hold of your arm and let him pull you into the bewildering yet heartbreaking aura of Second World War Germany. The setting, Nazi Germany, was raw and almost Aryan. The girl, Liesel, is the protagonist of the book. A lover of words. The author, Markus Zusk weaves a captivating book. Well written and evenly paced. There were some passages that I read over and over again.

I'm now officially blind but loved every word on the pages. Verging on excellent, very beautiful. I'm truly grateful.

A miraculous thing happened this afternoon, all the drivers on the big roundabout used the right signals for their exits. It was like syncronised swimming but on the roundabout. What a sight to behold.

Here's a disclaimer prior to the big match this Sunday. There's no need for gloating if Liverpool do get 3-points against Manchester United, this rivalry is getting old. Plus, Manchester United did do the double over Liverpool last season but I didn't gloat. I'm actually quite envious with Liverpool, they have Fernando Torres. F king brilliant. And with the imminent demise of John Terry's England captaincy, I do hope Steven Gerrard get the arm-band. He's the right man for it.

Oh wow, what an unflattering picture of me on RA.com, and in the papers too! And here I was, thinking I lost enough weight to appear in public. I'm not going to wear that jersey anymore 'til these fun-bags are gone, or less fun (not that I've been playing with them). There are more pictures at ZADM and UcingItam, there were other photogs but I'm not too sure of their sites.

I've just finished reading this book by Nasir P. Ramlee, P. Ramlee Bapaku. It's alright, but I couldn't help but imagine the seniman writing an auto-biography himself. That would've been awesome.

Over the weekend, I had a tummy-ache, a proper one.

I'm definitely allergic to seafood, I had butter prawn for sungkai yesterday and my hands are slightly inflamed. Is it possible to muster up an allergy? I'm quite sure I wasn't when I was a kid.

Here we are. Blogging again. LOL. I know I've been neglecting this blog for awhile, simply because I have nothing interesting to blog about, and I didn't really want to blog about what I did today. But since I still have nothing interesting to blog about, lets blog for the sake of blogging.

I had a slice of blueberry cheesecake today. It was yummy. Then I had sushis for dinner and yes, it was yummy.

LOL.

Ohhh! I checked my weight the other day. Three months ago, I was at 70kg. Now, I'm a 80kg fat-boy. Sigh. And with puasa and raya around the corner, I can see myself gaining another 10kg. Sighs. Puasa-ing won't help since I usually eat everything in sight during sungkai. Sighs. This is not good.

The Golf Punks' league is on hold for 6 weeks for Ramadhan and Syawal. Sighs. Well, at least I'll get myself to a lighter shade.

One good news is my sister getting her scholarship to do her Masters in London, so congrats to the most annoying person ever. It would be sad to see you off to London again. Then again, you can buy me stuffs from London. :D And, you won't be here for your birthday therefore I don't have to get you a birthday present.

Yesterday afternoon, after spending most of the day lounging in front of the television I decided to go for a massage and since I'm the two-birds-with-one-stone kinda guy I thought I should get a haircut too.

I told the Indian barber the usual, a grade number and trim a little off the top. I'm not sure why but there's something about the noise a pair of scissors make that eases me. *snippity-snip-snip* Anyway, I was already half-asleep when suddenly I felt a sudden sharp pain on top of my right ear. Yes, he accidently sliced my ear.

At first, I wasn't worried since I didn't see any blood spurting out and my ear is still intact. Plus, the barber got some antiseptics and cotton wool on the wound pretty quick. But the longer the barber took cleaning up the wound, the woozier I got. I was looking pale, my body was cold but at the same time I was sweating. I seriously thought I was going to die or at least faint. Haha. I think I was just stupefied by the pain and incident.

Anyway, using the graffiti application on Facebook I drew a front profile of my right ear. :) I exaggerated a little bit for the dramatic effect, its not as bad as it looks in the drawing. It's more of a flesh wound, but slightly deep.

The barber shop I went to yesterday was quite funny because two shops down there's another barber shop, and it reminds me of Amsterdam's Red Light District. To compete with each other, the barbers would take chairs in front of the shop and, sit there and wait for potential customers.

Disclaimer: I've never been there, honest.

Finally finished reading Jed Rubenfed's The Interpretation of Murder a few days ago, took alot longer than most books since I had to re-read most of the chapters. Being an avid reader I usually fly my way through books. With this book, however, I paced myself because it is definitely too clever (psyhcology being the subject-matter, and abit of Shakespeare here and there) for me, nonetheless it is a very interesting and terrific book. Plus, I didn't want it to end. I personally think its better than Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code, it's the best "faction" I've read so far. I certainly didn't think that the subject-matter appeal to me but I was engrossed in the book. The plot, the twists and the style of writing is spell-binding. The research is fantastic as is the incredible writing. Definitely impressed by the gripping narrative and authentic feel of early 20th century New York. Can't wait for his next novel.

I actually wanted to share a paragraph from the book about Oedipus Complex but I can't find the right page at the moment. It's interesting.

Back in the old days, I was known for being mischievous. In fact, an ex-roommate used to say that if I was one of those Mister Men & Little Miss characters my name would be Mister Mischievous.

Anyway, I had this weird dream last night. I was in a game of 'who's the most mischievous' between the boys from my boarding house and halls. It was like a huge tournament, however I lost in the final shoot-out. I lost miserably, and I was crying. It was humiliating. Sighs.

My sister's back home. She got me a sexy 250gb external hard-drive. It's so sexy that I wanna make out with it, cuddle it to sleep and wake up next to it in the morning. Seriously. Now I can take my old hard-drive apart and build myself a robot. Thanks again, little sister.

The second round of the Golf Punks League game took place last Friday at the RBAGC. There was a huge turn-out for the second event, 25 golfers in total, in comparison to the first game-week which was half of that. It was a long day, my flight was the last to be back at the club house, nonetheless it was a fun day. Anyway, for more details on the league click right here. Last week, my friend asked me about the difference between happiness and meaning. I was stuck in a stupor state trying to come up with an answer (I tend to figure out something smart to say when asked a question, but I would normally end up with something confusing) and in the end, all I could say to my friend was "happiness is happiness and meaning is meaning" (see!).

Anyway, I'm currently reading a book by Jed Rubenfeld called The Interpretation of Murder. The book starts off with this..

"There is no mystery to happiness.

Unhappy men are all alike. Some wound they suffered long ago, some wish denied, some blow to pride, some kindling spark of love put out by scorn - or worse, indifference - cleaves to them, or they to it, and so they live each day within a shroud of yesterdays. The happy man does not look back. He doesn't look ahead. He lives in the present.

But there's the rub. The present can never deliver one thing: meaning. The ways of happiness and meaning are not the same. To find happiness, a man need only live in the moment; he need only live for the moment. But if he wants meaning - the meaning of his dreams, his secrets, his life - a man must reinhabit his past, however dark, and live for the future, however uncertain. Thus nature dangles happiness and meaning before us all, insisitng only that we choose between them."

For myself, I had always chosen meaning. I want to try happiness now. :)

I wanted going to blog about this yesterday, but it slipped my mind as I spent most of the day under the duvet. It was the first game-week of the newly established BLOG League and I had a wonderful day, even thought my first three holes (plus a few more) started disastrously. Next game-week will probably be on the 6th or 8th of July, can't wait.

Henry confirms Barcelona transfer. What a huge loss he'll be to the English Premier League. He was an integral part of Invincibles that went through a whole season unbeaten, not by camping in their own penalty box but by playing the game like its supposed to be played, scoring beautiful goals.

Fly Boy texted me last night that there's a golf league starting soon and golfers are needed. Brilliant. I'm in. It's from the same makers of the Par 3 King competition, BLOG: Brunei League of Golf-Punks will start this coming Friday morning, 22nd June 2007, at RBA Golf Club. Can't wait.
